Winter Solstice. The shortest day of the year. The first day of winter. All symbolic in many ways.

I find the days of late November and December particularly hard. It appears the light is important for me. But today is the new beginning. A time to look ahead to increasing light each day…and an increasing sense of hope and anticipation for the days and months to come.

As we looking out on the beautiful fresh snow this morning, this peaceful blanket provides a sort of muting of the clutter of everyday life. What a gentle retreat from chaos!

With the start of winter, we also look ahead to the next few month of winter play – with the opportunity to snowshoe, ski and dog sled in areas of incredible beauty. We look ahead to guiding our guests in creating a great winter experience, whether active enjoyment of the winter landscape, or passive relaxation from a comfy chair or whirlpool tub.

Let the new light begin!
