Pinehurst Inn Recipes
At the Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast we love to experiment and try new recipes and we are thrilled to share our guest favorites with you.
Another recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin Okay, this may not be the typical breakfast served at a Bed & Breakfast, but we aren't typical. We like to experiment with different recipes, sometimes making dinner for breakfast. We try a lot of recipes, not only for breakfast, but for lunch and dinner too. When we have something for lunch or dinner that we really like, Mike (my better half) and I…... view full recipe
Recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin We have been busy making applesauce this fall from the apples produced by our young apple trees. They were planted in the fall of 2016 and in 2019 already are producing more apples than we can use. We expected that nature (mostly the deer and birds) would consume most of the apples, but we have had an incredible crop so I decided to make applesauce…... view full recipe
Recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, WI Alright, the picture does not do this treat justice. We serve it with fresh whipped cream, but when we took a picture of it with the whipped cream, all you could see was whipped cream in a white ramekin (a little bit too much white). So it is pictured without whipped cream, but we strongly recommend serving it slightly warm with either fresh whipped cream…... view full recipe
A recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin. In keeping with the saying "everything is better with bacon," these biscuits are amazing. They are a meal unto themselves, but we serve them as a starter, typically followed by a fresh fruit salad, then a breakfast entrée (maybe orange ricotta pancakes with homemade cranberry orange syrup). Eat the biscuits plain or with butter. Personally, I think no butter is necessary, but others disagree.…... view full recipe
Recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, WI. These Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies have the perfect blend of butter, sugar and jam, and are very easy to make. You can use your favorite jam (homemade or purchased). We are fortunate to be surrounded by incredible orchards so we generally use locally made jams from these orchards. I am looking forward to getting back into canning jams and jellies (well I have all the equipment,…... view full recipe
Spinach Mushroom Goat Cheese Frittata
Another recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, WI. We have received a number of requests for my frittata recipe, so I have decided it is time to post this recipe. This frittata recipe is simple and really versatile. You can easily change the "add-ins" and seasonings to suit your particular taste, but this recipe will give you a general roadmap to follow when using your favorite ingredients. The frittata had only been…... view full recipe
Individual Southwestern Quiche in Corn Tortilla
A recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin. This recipe is from Gluten Free Spinner with slight modifications. It is easily adaptable to your own taste. Since the "crust" is a tortilla, we like to play up the "southwest" flavors and serve it with either homemade guacamole or tomato avocado salsa, and of course, sour cream. These individual quiches currently are part of our breakfast rotation. We typically start off with something…... view full recipe
Kentucky Hot Brown Quiche (aka Turkey Bacon Tomato Quiche)
Another recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin: It's Kentucky Derby week so I thought I would share our version of the Kentucky Hot Brown in quiche form. The Hot Brown is a decadent sandwich made with turkey, bacon, tomatoes, and a creamy Mornay sauce, created in the 1920s by the Chef of the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. The Hot Brown still is served today at the Brown Hotel, and you…... view full recipe
Another cookie recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin: Take a walk down memory lane with these Iced Oatmeal Cookies. I have always been a big fan of the iced oatmeal cookies you find in the cookie aisle of the grocery store, so when I was came across a recipe for iced oatmeal cookies from Sally's Baking Addiction, one of my favorite blogs, I had to try it (with slight modifications based…... view full recipe
Our breakfasts aren't always conventional (okay, I confess, most of our breakfasts at Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast are not conventional), sometimes they may look more like dinner, like our Breakfast Crepe Lasagna which we typically serve with a multi-color pepper and sausage salad. Over the last six months, we have tried several breakfast lasagna recipes with some tweaking here and there, and ultimately decided that this one is a keeper. It uses my favorite…... view full recipe
Apple Cinnamon Baked French Toast
A recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin We have had a number of requests for this recipe so I thought it was time to post it. This recipe is from the vanilla and cinnamon challah bread pudding recipe on GeniusKitchen.com. The creamy texture and the wonderfully buttery challah bread (and, of course, the local apples when they are in season) make this french toast a standout. We are fortunate to have…... view full recipe
Recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, WI We are going into negative temperatures for the next seven to ten days, so it is the perfect time to make a big batch of our favorite chili. We like it a bit spicy and this recipe reflects that, but it is easy to tone down by reducing the amount of jalapenos, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes. After several years of working on the…... view full recipe
Recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin It all started when Mike and I took a cooking class at New Orleans School of Cooking during one of our many trips to NOLA--what a fun afternoon. A recipe for pralines was demonstrated and Mike even volunteered to assist the chef in scooping out the luscious delights. I wish I had thought to take a picture back then, but I was just enjoying the…... view full recipe
Recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin Our Muffuletta Breakfast Pie is inspired by the muffulettas we enjoyed in New Orleans. Our favorite cold muffuletta is from Central Grocery on Decatur Street. We always had one for our flight back home so we could enjoy NOLA a bit longer. However, our follow passengers did not always appreciate the fact that we did not have enough to share. Our favorite warm muffuletta has…... view full recipe
Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe (to date)
A recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin A good chocolate chip cookie never gets old, especially with an ice cold glass of milk. Growing up, we would make Toll House chocolate chip cookies, which we loved and they still bring back lots of great memories. But then I tasted a Mrs. Field's semi-sweet chocolate chip cookie and realized that there may be more to chocolate chip cookies then just Toll House.…... view full recipe
Ginger Molasses Cream Pies aka Spiced Cream Pies
A recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin These cream pies are a combination of soft chewy ginger molasses cookies and a cream filling that is light, sweet and creamy, and oh so delicious. The spice from the cookies and the sweetness from the filling are the perfect pairing. These are great for the fall and the holidays, but certainly can be enjoyed year-round. Try it out yourself and let us know…... view full recipe
Sweet Potato Pancakes with Pecan Butter
A recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin We first discovered sweet potato pancakes when Mike and I were traveling in the south. I am not a sweet potato fan, but when I first tried sweet potato pancakes, it reminded me of pumpkin pie--and I do love some pumpkin pie. I tried many different sweet potato pancake recipes, trying to find the perfect balance of sweet and savory, but nothing seemed quite…... view full recipe
A recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin I am a big fan of scones, but trying to find scone recipes that Mike likes has been a challenge, until I found this Ham and Cheese Scone recipe from www.damndelicious.net. While we add a bit more ham than the recipe calls for, these scones are delicious. They are more biscuit-like than the scones I am use to, maybe that is why Mike likes…... view full recipe
A recipe from Pinehurst Inn Bed & Breakfast in Bayfield, Wisconsin Bayfield Wisconsin is known for its orchards and wonderful fruits, including its raspberries. The growing season is short in Northern Wisconsin so when summer arrives, we pack in as much fresh local fruit as possible, and raspberries are no exception. We love the raspberries from North Wind Organic Farm. We buy flats and flats of them so we have plenty to served to our…... view full recipe
